We are delighted/chuffed to bits/over the moon to announce that our production of Wildest Dreams has been nominated in several categories at the NODA East Region Awards for August 2023 to July 2024, which will take place at 1-4pm on September 22 at Luton Library Theatre.
The nominations are:
Most Interesting Set/Setting
Best Actor in a Play – Male
Joseph Smyth as Warren
Best Duo
Zara Radford as Marcie & Nazim Uddin as Larry
Elaine Hartless as Hazel & Malcolm Coakley as Stanley
However, it would not be right if we did not recognise the whole team that made this possible. Clare Waller as Rick, Ruth Ling as Thelma and Jeff Best as Austen, also gave outstanding performances, as the whole cast worked extremely hard on what was a challenging play to perform because of the difficult content. They were supported by a Back Stage Crew, of Ann Hollis, Liz Wolf-Hebb and Margie Skinner, who not only worked hard on the scene changes, but who were also always on hand in the dressing room to support the cast during performances.
Production was complicated because of the Sound and Lighting needs of the complex staging. However, this was left in the very capable and efficient hands of Richard Hartless, who kept on track even when the cast went “off piste”!
Finally while Director Lesley Cowland can take full credit for the Set Design, she deserves to be recognised as not only the Mastermind for the whole Production but also having the courage to want to stage Wildest Dreams in the first place. Lesley took great care at rehearsals to not only tease out such good performances from all the cast but to make completely sure they felt safe and comfortable performing the more difficult scenes.
We knew this was a production to be proud of, but to receive these nominations is the icing on the cake!
